Authors Ms. Saeme Noor, Dr. Anuradha Mishra
Broad area Startup Ecosystem
Abstract

Abstract: The startup ecosystem in India has moved very quickly from nothingness to one of the biggest in the world. Key drivers of this rapid growth are government support and policy, advances in technology, and entrepreneurs willing to enter the marketplace. This research paper on current trends and challenges in the startup ecosystem is based on data from government reports and industry insights. The analysis has highlighted a longer-term trend of increased recognition for startups, and job creation. Over the past few months there has been a shift toward more cautious investment behaviour that has moved to a focus on sustainability. Additionally, while there are some challenges to the startup ecosystem, there have been some positive developments as well including the availability of public policy support, increasing numbers of women entrepreneurs, and new and emerging technologies. As such, the research will provide the stakeholders in the startup system, policymakers, and researchers with an up-to-date perspective on the ecosystem that is supported by data.
